How It All Began

“No more what ifs. I asked you to be mine, and you said yes.”

— Hans

“A thousand times yes.”

— Mia

Hans and Mia met as classmates in law school, where friendship came easily, built on long days, longer nights, and a shared love of good drinks.

Somewhere along the way, they began to choose each other, like taking a fire escape not out of urgency, but because it led exactly where they wanted to go.

It happened quietly, in the spaces between everything else, in the habit of staying, in the ease of always turning back.

Their blockmates were impossible, teasing and insisting that there was something there.

Their friends, quieter but no less certain, watched with knowing eyes, noticing the small ways the two lingered near each other long before Hans or Mia admitted it themselves.

Three years later, they find themselves here:

Not marking a single beginning, but recognizing how naturally it all came to be, though perhaps just a little amused that everyone else saw it coming first.

And the rest is history, a story yet unfolding.
